The Red Night of Oued Abid

On June 21, 2025, seven friends from Tunis set off to camp in the isolated region of Oued Abid, near the north-west coast of Tunisia. A perfect day: swimming in the river, quad bikes on the dunes, impromptu fishing and a sunset on the beach. That evening, the group lights a campfire near the pines. Music, drinks, conversations — and old tensions resurface. Around 1:20 AM, each person gradually retreats to their tent. At 2:13 AM, a brutal scream tears through the forest silence. The friends rush out with their phone torches and find Aziz Gharbi, 27, lying near the almost-dead fire. A deep wound to the back of his head. Blood in the wet sand. No obvious sign of a weapon. All the vehicles are still there. No strangers spotted. The forest is inaccessible at night without knowing the paths. Someone among them is lying. But no one seems to have a clear enough motive to kill Aziz.
